When God Ran

I asked Jesus, "How much do you love me?"
"This much," he replied, and he stretched out His arms and died.
Let this Christmas mean so much more than a little baby born in a stable. This baby was born as a humble servant, to take your sin and die for you, for we have all fallen short. Yet he took all our shame and sin and guilt and every wrong thought we have ever thought, and took it upon himself, who had never once sinned, and died for you. This baby was born a great king. He became human, yet us humans did not recognise him for who he truly was. We accused him of blasphemy and put him to death. But this was all part of God's great plan. "The word became flesh..." (see John 1) and the birth of this little boy is so much more than just the commercialised Christmas the world celebrates. For he is not of the world. He is Creator but became 'created'. Can you imagine how frustrating that would be? And he died to obey his Father's great plan. You are not praising a baby, you are praising a holy, powerful, perfect, amazing saviour king who has saved you and me and calls you friend. God gave up His only Son so we can live free from sin and judgement, and come into His arms forever. He died so we could go home.

And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with His love. - Proverbs 5v5

You know, God loves you. And not in the cheesy "Jesus loves you!" kind of way. He loves you dearly, deeply, with his whole heart and mind. He is constantly thinking good things about you, blessing you even with the smallest things. God puts the lonely in families. God blesses those he loves with sleep. And I'm presuming most people reading this have enough food to eat each day. So thank God for these blessings every day.

Have you ever felt disappointed. Probably. I know I have. And if it's in other people, then just let the Holy Spirit God put in your heart allow you to love this person no matter what. Nobody is perfect. Thank goodness, or we wouldn't have Jesus! And if, as is more likely, it is in yourself, do not worry any more. God accepts you for who you are. He made you who you are. We all make mistakes, we learn from them. But this disappointment leads to hope. Hope for the hopeless - God is. Friend to the friendless - God is. Disappointment to the hopeful? I don't think so. He loves you and wants you to be happy and joyful, yet the world is a horrible place sometimes. So take up your shield of faith and put on the full armour of God. Smile because He took your place and sacrificed everything for you. You are only disappointing yourself. Because God loves you enough to meet you where you are, but loves you too much to see you stay there. God is love, love never fails, God loves you and me. And FAITH is really spelt RISK. So take a RISK and let God bless you and others around you this week, let you not worry about disappointment. Because from this comes an inextinguishable hope from God, that He loves you anyway. So really, there's nothing to lose.

Proverbs And Rain

Hiya! Haven't blogged in ages so now is the time! It's a wet, windy day here and I really don't like it. I've been moaning about it especially as it made me ill because I got a chill.. but anyway, I just decided the weather is relevant to what I want to put across today. Proverbs 17 v 17... A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need. This is one of my favourite scriptures, because it illustrates purpose and identity. If we are loyal, we can be trusted, which is always a good thing to have people think of you (as long as it is true, of course!) and we are born to help others come to know God, and to help them in good times and not so good. I'm not trying to boast about myself here, as I know that although I try my best to be loyal it isn't always that simple, I make mistakes, and I know full well I'm not always there when people need me. I'm too wrapped up in my own life. However, I would like to tell you a story of what happened today... My friend Rowena was meant to have hockey after school but it was cancelled, and her phone was in London with her mum. So Rowena used a friend's phone to call her but there was no reply. I let her use my phone, as it was raining and she had no way of getting home - no oyster card, no money, no phone - and she rang her mum, with no answer, her home phone, with no answer, and then finally her dad, who picked up and said he could pick her up. However, this whole time she kept telling me I should go home as it was raining, I had a lot to do and my family would wonder where I was. But all I could think of was helping her out, as there is so much potential bad stuff that could happen, and I didn't want to leave her on her own, by the park, when it was getting dark. Loyal? Maybe. There in time of need? My phone was. But we need to examine our heart attitude. I will admit it would have been easier, drier, warmer and quicker for me to leave, but I didn't. Why? Because Jesus wouldn't. He is the ultimate friend there to help us in time of need - in fact, "a brother is born to help in time of need" is certainly true - how about us with all our sin? Jesus came to help in our time of need by taking all our sin upon himself. I'm sorry but that is one big help. The biggest help, most important help you will ever receive. And he is loyal - he didn't come to earth and enjoy it, yet he carried on for the sake of us (His Father's will.) I think we should examine our hearts, look out for those in need like Jesus did, and help them as much as we can to our best ability. Even the small things like holding someone's bag, smiling at someone, a hug, a wave, even just saying "hello." You could save someone's life and not realise it. It is what you were born to do. You've been appointed by God! :)

"Living With Identity And Purpose"

(Notes taken at the first ever UnitedLife women's conference, 10th October 2009. Don't know if this makes sense to anyone else, but I wanted to put it on here anyway)
(Part One)
Psalm 139v14 - We know God did a good job. We need confidence for opportunities. Wow the world! We are judged by the world, but we can change the flavour of the world, too! Take Susan Boyle, for example. She was judged because of her looks, but once she sang everyone was blown away. (I encourage you to look at her first audition: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9whxWNI7bE) If we lose confidence we will hide. By God's will, we can change! God sees me now as His daughter who is blessed, gifted and valued. Who determines what beautiful is anyway? We judge the way the world does. Satan tries to stop us stepping into God's plan for our lives. Isaiah 80v1-2. Arise and shine! Do something. Let God's glory shine on you, and from you. The goodness of God comes upon us when we stand with confidence against the darkness of the world. FREEDOM. Break out and grab the confidence. Fear isn't from God. The world is waiting for us to stand up and be the salt and light of the earth. Standing up is a choice. God is with you. In God's eyes we are all of equal value - believe it in your heart! God looks at us and says "You are valuable." Urge eachother on - God moment! (Jackie was describing a few times when the Holy Spirit told her to say things about God, randomly, and referred to it as a "God moment") Tell people and be encouraged and encourage people. It's God's design! Be who God made you to be, not who others expect you to be. Let's celebreate that we are all different, and be the best "me" ever! Family values affect upbringing - don't let judgement on education etc get you down. Family roles - it's good to be strong but under authority. Free to be strong. Family response to failure - if God wants you to do it, do it! If it goes wrong, try again! Go for it! Family history - today is a new day! Words - listen to God's words, don't accept negative words. Don't let it affect your confidence. BEcause God tells the truth. How I am created is how I am designed and what I'm called to do. Stir up the gift of God on our lives! Step out (Loaves and fish)
*At this point I got a picture of a small rose that is starting to curl up and it is covered in thorns, which represented being exhausted and worn down with excess baggage. It then bloomed into a beautiful rose with the thorns falling off. "By the grace of God you have been made new... and beautiful" is what I wrote next to it as I drew what I saw.*
(Part Two - after lunch!)
Really really really DO WATCH this video. Seriously. It's really moving. (If you don't understand who people are meant to be etc, feel free to ask me) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyheJ480LYA. Whatever we are, nothing is too big for God. He pulls us through. Purpose = potential. Without a purpose, life is pointless. Why are we doing what we are doing? The cause is Jesus Christ. Vision without a cause is just personal goals. Don't lose purpose or conform to our belief systems so we live without purpose amidst purposeless people. Be salty salt! Don't underestimate God's calling. Ecclesiastes 3v9-12. God has placed eternity in our hearts. If Jesus came back now, what would I have to show for my life? Focus on eternity. Am I fulifilling my purposes? For this cause we are born. To bear witness to the truth. 1 John 1. Declare Jesus Christ to the world. Bring peace and subdue nations with the Gospel. Transform with the Good News and illuminate the way to Jesus. However amazing we are, without Jesus it is just us with personal goals amounting eventually to nothing. Jesus is the one who can bring us to God. Thank you Jesus! Jesus is the answer to the world. Declare what Jesus has done and is doing today! The only way and the only one. People get different reactions when they mention Jesus (as opposed to the Holy Spirit, God or something similar.) This is surely confirmation that Jesus is the only one. Blessed are the persecuted. You need to declare Jesus more! Jesus is the challenge. We all have a testimony to share. People want to - need to - hear it. Be ready with your testimony. God's love is so amazing that even when we are reluctant He is still there to make it easier for us. Be intentional. Look for opportunities to declare God anywhere and everywhere, whenever. Be interruptable. The Holy Spirit helps us have boldness to share Jesus. As you do this and trust in God then your purpose will be there to take hold of. Let God pick the fruit at the right time. God has a plan. So be relevant and let the Spirit lead you. Be so God-empowered that you can make friends with sinners and not be affected.

*Then I got a picture of the red cross symbol. This said to me that I personally like to help people with problems etc. I'm sure someone can emphasise with me. And then the cross became the cross Jesus died on. He took the pain, he took the burdens - so give it all to Him. You don't need to carry a thing.*
God bless you :)

Philippians 2 v 1 - 18

Before I type anything, I just want to say this is only what I personally got from the passage. If you have a point to make, feel free. Or if I'm missing the point or something. I did just "go with the flow" as you do... anyway, here goes:Here's the passage just for reference. This is NLT because that's what I was looking at, mainly.

Philippians 2Have the Attitude of Christ1 Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and compassionate? 2 Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.3 Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. 4 Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.5 You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.6 Though he was God,[a]he did not think of equality with Godas something to cling to.7 Instead, he gave up his divine privileges[b];he took the humble position of a slave[c]and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form,[d]8 he humbled himself in obedience to Godand died a criminal’s death on a cross.9 Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honorand gave him the name above all other names,10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,in heaven and on earth and under the earth,11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,to the glory of God the Father.Shine Brightly for Christ12 Dear friends, you always followed my instructions when I was with you. And now that I am away, it is even more important. Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. 13 For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.14 Do everything without complaining and arguing, 15 so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people. 16 Hold firmly to the word of life; then, on the day of Christ’s return, I will be proud that I did not run the race in vain and that my work was not useless. 17 But I will rejoice even if I lose my life, pouring it out like a liquid offering to God,[e] just like your faithful service is an offering to God. And I want all of you to share that joy. 18 Yes, you should rejoice, and I will share your joy.

Ok then. Here is what I wrote:Who? Paul is speaking, however you could say it is God's / Jesus' point of view.Where? Paul is writing as a slave of Jesus Christ. He was imprisoned for remaining loyal to God. His letters were for the churches, in various places. The believers of Philippi. When? After Jesus' ascending to Heaven, after being crucified and resurrected. Jesus told his disciples previously to tell people God's word and good news. What & why? Paul is writing a letter addressing the believers of Philippi. He is talking about having the attitude of Christ, by working together, loving one another, and agreeing wholeheartedly with one another. Also be humble, not selfish, and think of others better than yourself. Take an interest in people and put them first. Jesus was like this and practised it. God placed Him in a place of highest honour. Verse 12 stands out by saying there instructions are even more important now he is away. I think that's saying (to me, anyway) that although Jesus is no longer on the Earth (even though Paul is referring to himself), we should not stop living for Jesus - He is still real, He can still see us, He knows us inside out. Just because Jesus died for us, it is all for nothing if we turn away from God and live rebelliously. Paul (referring to himself once more) exclaims how he hopes the Philippians (us) will follow his advice, so he can "be proud that I did not run the race in vain..." (v16) Life is referred to as a race, too. :)I like verse 4, about taking an interest. Like saying do not remain ignorant to the world, either. There are other beliefs and it's not going to help by criticizing these when sharing Jesus. You must love people and bring barriers down so God's love can be shared to the full potential. One size fits all.I also like verse 13, where it says "For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him." God is in us, we are part of the body of Christ. And although we may feel unwilling, lazy, discouraged, you have the power!!Part of verse 15 says we will "shine like bright lights in a world full of crooked, perverse people." Yes, the world is full of people drowning in sin, but God's love (in you) is the brightest light in the universe. The sun, which He created, is merely an insignificant star compared to God's light. And like a moth is attracted to light, non-believers will be drawn to your God-given radiance and shining brightness, even in the darkest of times. The first thing God brought to the universe was light. And it's not dark in Heaven. Light is what allows us to see. Don't be blind - living in the dark - and being ignorant to God's purpose. It's easy to say negative things. But they rub off on others and make you feel discouraged and miserable. Verse 14 says, "do everthing without complaining and arguing." This is so we can be "innocent and blameless." Although we are, in God's eyes, perfect - He forgets all our repented sins - the world cannot forgive, and labels and stereotypes and formed on judgment. Lights covered in black paint do not bring light. They burn whoever goes near it. Another translation for verse 15 describes us as being able to "shine like stars in the universe." Each one is individual and yet so significant a part of the universe. Each one has its time and contiunues to shine brightly when it has long "died" - to us of the Earth. In v7 of the Amplified, it states that Jesus "stripped himself [of all privileges and rightful dignity]" which shows you must open your heart up to let God's love in, and out to others. Putting God first means sacrifice sometimes. But it's always worth it when the light shines brighter. V9 - God elevated Jesus. He was shining out. If we are shining, do not be afraid if God places you to stand up. Lights are not hidden. They are placed in the centre of lives, homes, community. For everyone. God's love is for everyone. Switch your light on, stand up tall, and share this amazing love with humility, compassion and wisdom. God places you in your everyday situations and provides divine opportunities. The brightest bit of a candle is the flame. Joined by the wick. The flame is a heart filled with Jesus, shining out to others. The wick could be compared to holding tightly to the word, the foundation (v16). Staying connected with God. Or the flame goes out. And you will impact no-one. Or you will slip up and give wrong interpretation and start a raging fire. The word is good news. Live it. Life is good. Jesus is good. God is love. Love is in you, shining out. Reaching out. "Yes, you should rejoice, and I will share your joy." (v18). It's up to you. :) <3

Bible study of the use of “light” in John’s gospel

In him was life, and that life was the light of men. – John 1:4
Jesus is life; God is the bringer of life who created the world, the stars and the heavens, the animals and the first human life. And Jesus follows in His Father’s footsteps, becoming instead the bringer of eternal life. This verse suggests that Jesus came as one of us, a human, to live life similarly to us but die for us. Notice that when Jesus died, the skies turned dark. Yet when Jesus came back, it was light. Jesus had made the sacrifice for the world, and many accepted the light. The life Jesus gave is the light in us. We can only live in true light because of what He has done for us. Because if we belong to Jesus, we do not belong to the world; we belong to Jesus, who took away our sin and moved us into the light. 1 John 2:15 says: “Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you.” Without light you cannot see, just as without Jesus you cannot live forever in the light. So consider, “Jesus, light of the world” to be instead, “Jesus, light of the world, yet not from the world. Saving the world, brightening the world, restoring the world.”
The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. – John 1:5
Jesus is a light shining in a dark world, and seeing as Jesus is not of the world and is a totally different concept, the world cannot understand or accept Him. Instead of being welcome, the light seems blinding, as it is too much to cope with. And if we live with the Holy Spirit in us, sometimes our ideas and opinions are thrown aside and laughed at. But do not lose your faith, because your faith is what has saved you. The world just finds it hard to see; yet the light is shining right at them. True understanding involves knowing, which involves believing. This is hard for a lot of people to grasp because how can they possibly believe something new and perhaps strange, when they have never seen it for themselves? The truth is, the light is right in front of their eyes – they just need to open them. The Holy Spirit in many Christians today is proof of a shining light in the world’s darkness. And when we plug in our light and speak to God in tongues for example, Satan cannot understand what we are saying. That’s how intense the separation of darkness and light really is. When there is light, there is no room for darkness. And for many people that is a sacrifice – but nothing close to the sacrifice Jesus made for us.
He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all men might believe. He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light – John 1:7-8
This talks of John the Baptist, Jesus’ cousin. He came to witness Jesus as a real man, and like we can give testimonies of what God has done for us in our lives, likewise John was to do the same. With his testimony, many people were saved. I believe that if we ask Him, God can help us through hard times. And we can use those times to look back and say, “God changed my life… and He can change yours too.” He witnessed the light, but was not the light, because the Holy Spirit has not yet come upon God’s people, and also he wasn’t holy. He was able to preach about Jesus in all aspects of his life, and even by baptizing people. Faith in action. I believe that we need to be like John, be a witness to what God has done for us – open our own eyes and step into the light, rubbing them to see clearer. And when we see clearer, we can use our faith and knowledge to step out and baptize others with the Word of God, bringing many to salvation in Jesus Christ. Moving the shadows and blockages and helping people step into the light. When it says all men, it means do not be judgemental or choose. The Word is for everyone. Salvation is for everyone. Jesus paid much too high a price for us to pick and choose. When the sun comes up, ultimately it is up to us individually to choose whether to go out into the light or stay in the dark with the curtains shut. Unless you did that to someone – which I’m sure is a criminal offence. Well it’s worse than that when it’s literally a matter of eternal life or death. It’s your choice. Give them a choice too.
The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world. – John 1:9
Jesus is the true light. We can fill our lives with false comforters – there are many I could list – but none will satisfy when the Day of Judgement comes. No false comforter will save you then. The false lights will be darkness compared to the light of Jesus. Also because all false comforters are not of God and are therefore of the world, which means involving with them is separation from God. And Jesus gives light to every man; again it’s our choice as to whether to take the light or not. But the alternative is once again darkness. He came into the world, but was not of the world. There is a difference. We should be Christ-like in choosing to be not of the world, but to impact the world through bringing light into especially dark situations and communities. When Jesus came into the world, He was the perfect example of the fact we have a choice. He gave up all He had to choose life for us, and He was tempted with everything but never once sinned. This shows us that with the Spirit in us, we also have the choice to give up everything we have in the world and choose Jesus, eternal life and eternity with God in Heaven, or choose to be a slave for sin. That involves no reward, just harm. Jesus came to take all our punishment and wounds, so why inflict them on yourself when Jesus took the pain for you? And Jesus’ light cannot be lost – i.e. if you put it down and ignore it, it will keep coming up in random places. Because Christians are all over the place, and the Spirit in them is light through Jesus. Therefore, although you may have more than one chance to take hold of the light, you never know when your last chance will be. So take hold, and let the light overflow into your heart. Be a light for others around you.
This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. – John 3:19
The judgement has been made by God – Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice and bringer of salvation for all who choose it, but it is still human nature to love turning away to other things, because we sin and are tempted. We need to exercise self-control, a fruit of the Spirit that remains very important. Jesus did not refuse to die; imagine what that must have been like (Isaiah 53). Yet not once did He resist His father’s will. We should be the same, do not resist God’s will – instead, take it on board and use your life to glorify God in every aspect of your life. Thank God for all He has blessed you with, keep close to Him, and His plan for you will unfold. Think about how many people you see each day. How many of those people could you share Jesus with? A lot of these people need salvation. And instead of choosing the world instead of Jesus, the darkness instead of light, the pride instead of love, choose to love your neighbour and you can only truly do this by telling them about Jesus. God is love – now the phrase “sharing the love” takes a new meaning, eh? When men love darkness, they do not love God, which is the most important thing of all. It’s called missing the point. If you turn away from God, you are choosing to take your worldly possessions onto the streets instead of the home God has provided for you. And when the possessions go all rotten, what do you have then? You can choose then to go back and the Father will rejoice. (Luke 15:11-31) The warm, lit home is much more appealing than the dark, dangerous streets. Agreed? And if we are like the other son and are close to the Father, we should not go all green-eyed monster, but instead, keep on loving our brothers and sisters in Christ, and rejoice with God. None of us are perfect. That is why Jesus had to die.
Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. – John 3:20 Picture a vampire. They are stereotypically foul creatures that live in coffins and cannot stand the light. That is like us if we turn from Jesus. Eternal death and darkness. Sound appealing? Not to me. Some people are ashamed, though, to come into the light because they are too scared to be shamed and exposed to the truth behind their worldly deeds. Although they have a fair point, and the world may condemn them, it is the very world that brought them this far in the first place. Yet it is also the world Jesus overcame and took our sin from. And fear, aside from fear of God – which is a different kind of fear, is not from God. Along with doubt, fear is from the world, and from Satan: darkness himself. However, we have Jesus. When you shine light into a dark place, it is instantly lit up – nothing can prevent that. It’s the same with Jesus. God’s will is to be done. Therefore it shall happen. And if your deeds are exposed, Jesus came into the world to save it not condemn it. He took the punishment each of us deserves. I mean, who is not a sinner apart from Jesus? Who can cast that first stone? Jesus said that – we should follow His attitude. Ultimately, we choose our own punishments through the path we choose to take. More importantly, where it ends up. We could take the easy path but end in destruction. Choose the thorny path, clear the way through slowly and end up with Jesus. Step into the light, and let God cleanse you and make you pure. If it’s too dark to see the dirt, how can you dust yourself off? (Isaiah 1:18) God takes away all your shame, if you admit to it and ask for forgiveness. Repent, and your sins shall be washed away.
But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God." – John 3:21
If you live by God’s word, you are stepping into the light, and then you can see clearly what God is doing, how Jesus is moving in society both on a general and more personal level. If you are saved, you are an example to others of how amazing God’s love is, and if you humble yourself, people will see that anyone can receive His love, not just the fortunate, rich or people of certain race. One size fits all. And notice, through God. Not through the world. This is God’s doing. The light. No shadows present, because the light is simply so bright that it eradicates all hint of shadow. And we have to move in God’s word and plan for us to glorify God’s name. We cannot sit and say “Jesus loves you” to an empty room by the television screen. We need to get up, go out and meet people. And show God’s love to them. Even through helping them, kind words, a compliment, a hug, a smile – all of these things God blessed you with the ability to do. So why hold back? Jesus certainly didn’t. Although He was criticised and we can expect judgement too, God’s judgment is far more important, and rewarding, than that of any other human. Also, people can be kind and set out to do good, but if they do not know God, it is for nothing. It saves peoples lives in their current situation, but it saves no one for eternity. Just as Jesus was the ultimate solution, be the aid to those who need it by bringing God’s agape love, not just worldly necessities. I love the fact that this verse is John 3:21 because it’s a verse stating that the light needs to be put into action – use your torch when it’s dark, my friends. 3,2,1… go!
John was a lamp that burned and gave light, and you chose for a time to enjoy his light. – John 5:35
At the time John the Baptist was preaching, God’s light shone in his words and actions, and in his deep faith in Jesus. Although we can choose to listen to many great preachers, and hold on to their words and teachings, the thing we must do most is hold on to God’s word, for His light is brightest, and most direct and accurate. People can make mistakes; God cannot. So although you can use “temporary light” which is sufficient for the time being, do not hold on to these words because only God is the bringer of true light. Also, it again is a choice that we make. Who we listen to, whom we meet with and whose word we take as the truth. Truth is, you can only really trust God. Some people do wrong on purpose, speak lies that are to destroy people; others do it subconsciously or by accident. But God will never lie or put you down, because He has a special place for you in His heart, a deep love for you that has no match in the universe. Yes, another word: enjoy. God didn’t give us a set of rules, rules, and rules. Instead, He asks us to help Him reach out to His children, and promises us joy and blessing. So it’s not duty, it’s love. God chose you to do something special. A significant mission – that will make you happy. And when you burn light, energy is released. You, likewise, may tire and become weary, but let God lift your burdens and worries away from you, so you can be full of life and energy like He intended. Also heat is released, suggesting “heated discussions” and disagreement. Just trust in the Lord, let him fuel you up with the truth, and the truth will set you free.
[ The Validity of Jesus' Testimony ] When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." – John 8:12
Jesus spoke directly to the people, but we must understand that we too are His people. When He talks, we listen. He is the light of the world, He set us free and placed us out of the shadows to be seen, saved, and cleansed in His name. We are placed in the middle of things to shine like stars and be noticed as a light. If you follow Jesus, you will be led down a lit path that leads to eternal life in Heaven, and you will be rescued from the dark path, which leads in the opposite direction. At a crossroads in your life? Light path or dark path? I’m going with light. In a dark path you can lose your footing, fall, trip up, get hurt and get lost. But in a light path you know where you are going. You can see where you are being taken. And you can see the beauty and radiant light of the One you are following. He addresses you directly to follow Him, take His hand and also pull someone else along behind you so they can come too. The light of life does not necessarily mean good things will happen to you. Stones are still on the path. It’s just up to you whether to let God carry you over the stones, or let go of His hand, get lost and graze your feet.
While I am in the world, I am the light of the world." – John 9:5
While Jesus was on Earth, He led the way for many to come to salvation. Many people witnessed His life, His death and His resurrection. The light of the world is the Son, not the Sun. Without God there would be neither of these things. And the world is darkness, but Jesus came to rescue the people hidden in the dark and bring them into the light. Technically, the Spirit lives in us, so Jesus is the light of the world. “While,” suggests that this will not be forever, indicating a reasonably short time that will seem long. To me, anyway. And we must show patience, let the batteries get their full use – they are long-life batteries! So use them, use them to glorify God’s name in all you do, bringing light and life to those who need it most. If you get everyone in the world to turn on their lights at the same time, the world would be lit up. Now imagine sharing God’s love to the ends of the universe and back. The universe is going to shine pretty brightly! One word could change someone’s life. Jesus.
Jesus answered, "Are there not twelve hours of daylight? A man who walks by day will not stumble, for he sees by this world's light. It is when he walks by night that he stumbles, for he has no light." – John 11:9-10
There is a word of truth in answer to every question. Although it states that the world’s light will not stumble, that means that they will be okay during the good times, but what about when darkness creeps in? Then you cannot see where you are going, which is blindness. Blindness allows sin and temptation to be practised almost subconsciously. The world can satisfy sometimes, but will never be enough. Take Jesus as the light of the world – He is everlasting; therefore you will not need to worry about becoming blind and stumbling because Jesus will guide you. Take the world’s light, it is part of God’s plan although it does not belong to Him – if you are doing well in something you feel God has planned for you in life, do not stop because you are becoming involved with other people who aren’t believers. Stop and share with them the Good News that brought you to them in the first place. You may influence people my being a light in other ways, too. Music, perhaps, can influence so many people. The words of truth can be spread in beautiful melodies. Also, walk in God’s light, for when testing times come you will see them and know to tread over them carefully. Do not let shadows overpower your life, because shadows are subtle beginnings of darkness. When you have no light, there is no hope. Where can you go? What can you do? Nothing, for you cannot see your hand in front of your own face. When you are given a hand to take in the darkness, wouldn’t anyone take it? But how are you to know whose hand you are taking? Take the light, stay in the light, and remain in God’s peace in the darkness because your faith in Jesus will overcome the bad times. Those three days of darkness compensated for every bad thing. Compensated for Satan. Cut your ties with Him, and He remains in the past. But God will live forever.
Then Jesus told them, "You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. The man who walks in the dark does not know where he is going. Put your trust in the light while you have it, so that you may become sons of light." When he had finished speaking, Jesus left and hid himself from them. – John 12:35-36
Jesus was illustrating His authority as the light of the world. He was showing how he was to die, and was saying to move forward and do great things for Him before they lost faith and Satan would move back in, trying to trick them into doubting God. If you trust in the light while it is there, then you can be sure and know that lies are lies so they cannot get in. If you become a “son of light”, you are becoming Christ-like and living like He did, healing the sick, sharing love and hope with everyone and living for a divine purpose to save many others that would have otherwise have been overcome by the world. Jesus hid himself to show that He was instructing them and there was no other option for them. This was their “dare” if you like, they could not exchange it. If you follow Jesus, you know where you are going when you die. But if you don’t choose to follow Him, you are blindly let somewhere unknown, dark, and therefore I would imagine pretty darn terrifying. Instead, become a “son of light” and let God’s light shine out from you (Philippians 2:12-18.)
I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness. – John 12:46
Jesus came as a light, visible and bright, and if you believe in Him and His sacrifice, you will be close to the light, close to Him, and the darkness will be left behind you. With light, there is no room for darkness. With God, there is no room for Satan. So, in Jesus’ name, I pray that God may bless you, open your eyes to Him and let you feel His grace working within your wonderfully hand-crafted heart. <3

Keep Listening!

Hiya, haven't blogged for a little while, and really felt I needed to. Then I found this and really felt God telling me to talk about this to help so many people I know God is waiting to talk to, if they will listen. God bless you, love Hayley xx
Exodus 6:8-13 (NIV)
And I will bring you to the land I swore with uplifted hand to give to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob. I will give it to you as a possession. I am the Lord. Moses reported this to the Israelites, but they did not listen to him because of their discouragement and cruel bondage.
Something weighing you down? Turn to Jesus. "You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free." Keep reading God's word, His divine plan for YOU and only you, and keep praying, asking God's will to be done. Not yours. Your ways are not perfect. God's are. Therefore, I would say His plan is a lot better than ours. And wait patiently for answers - God can use your problems to glorify His name in the future. And He gave people free will - if any of your problems involve other people, it's not God's fault! "Bless those who curse you, pray for those who do wrong to you." You may be discouraged and feel God isn't listening, but He is! You need to put God first, other stuff behind. Then God can take control of the things you are trying to control. God is in control. So let go, sit back and relax - God said, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your soul. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." There you go - trade your sorrow for joy today! "The joy of the Lord is your strength." If your heart is steadfast, you will be rooted deep in God and He will know your thoughts and you will know His, and then as one you can fulfill the plan laid out for you. Darkness turns to light in His name! Keep your eyes open and you can see, and won't stumble. Let the Lord heal your heart. His way. He knows what is best better than we ever will. Be filled with His joy - cry out to Jesus and let Him take total control. Let Him undo the chains holding you down. God wants to heal your heart, because when He does, your life will glorify His name in the most wondrous way. And no matter what it is, He loves you and accepts you for who you are. So there is no need to be ashamed - of yourself or of what Jesus has done and is doing in you today! Go from slavery to the Promised Land - today! God bless, let His light shine on your life!
Many people say, "Who will show us better times?"
Let Your face smile on us, Lord. - Psalm 4:6

Tuesday 25 August 2009

Study this Book of Instruction continually . Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. This is my command - be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is withyou wherever you go. - Joshua 1:8-9

This is a great verse. It just illustrates what we can have if we choose a relationship with God. God wants you to know what He wants for you and for all His people, so that you can help Him achieve that - He knows that ultimately it is each individual's choice whether to follow Him or not, but He chooses each of us who love Him, and gives each of us an exciting mission to help others become closer to Him. He promises us joy for doing this. Imagine you are running a race (read Hebrews 12:1-3). This is the race you are running for God. It may not always be easy - in fact, sometimes it's hard to share Jesus, and the outcome may not be the desired one at first. But you are glorifying God in all you share to do with Him. Every time you step out in faith, God sees. Every time He prompts you to do something, do it.

If you give your whole life for God's plan, He can then totally fulfill what He wants you to do. If you find yourself sitting at home doing nothing, but thinking "God has no plan for me," then think again. Read His word, take hold of your instructions and get out there and meet people who you can share your joy with in your every day life. This will lead to eternal life, joy, and an everlasting relationship with the Father in Heaven. Isn't that such an exciting thought? Why is it so hard to comprehend? Because it's beyond belief how amazing it is! We don't deserve it, yet because He loves us and we chose to love Him, we get to be with Him forever. Forget broken relationships - this one lasts forever and it's perfect!

Be strong and brave, step out and do God's will. This could be anywhere, anything, at any time. But it's all God, and God is good! This verse does suggest you will have to step of your comfort zone. Then God sees your willingness to serve, your faith in Him, and how much you love Him. Do not be scared, doubtful or discouraged. It may not be the most appealing situation to put yourself in, but use your judgment which, if you keep the Word in your heart, will also be God's heart towards the situation, which means you should do it anyway. He has a plan, and he is your peace and comforter. (I like to sing "I Will Exalt You" and "Made Me Glad" by Hillsong when I'm afraid) The Lord is with you. In the good times and the bad. Ask for a hug from Him when you need one - trust me, you will feel a change in your heart! God is amazing! And the Lord will guide you where He wants you to be. He knows what's in your heart and knows what choices you are going to make. So let Him influence you to be something in your life, make a difference and bring yourself and others closer to the Father. Let His love rule your heart! Amen? :)

John 3:16
For God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16. Everyone hears that and goes "I've heard it before." It's the most well-known verse in the whole Bible. However, who has actually continued to read to the next verse: "God sent His Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him." And who has understood the depth and meaning to these verses?
What does it all mean?
God loves us. He gave up His only Son. If we just believe that, accept that, let God enter our hearts, we are saved. Death is separation from God. Eternal life being with our Heavenly Father, our comforter, protector, mighty, powerful and amazing God anf friend forever in Heaven. God sent Jesus for this purpose - so we could be with Him and be made whole and our sins forgiven. He does not judge the world, he saves the world through Him. Through Him in us many miracles have happened and continue to happen today. We are told to preach the good news because it is that: good news. Not bad news. Jesus died for you. God loves you and wants to spend eternity with you.
But how can you earn eternal life and salvation?
You can't. You don't deserve it. You sin. Jesus never once sinned. However, Jesus died for you. He took your place. Because the love of the Father is so amazing. Although we are all undeserving, Jesus makes us pure through him. On the other hand, we do need to be focusing our lives on God, devoting them to His plans for each and every one of us. Take a look at John 5:39: "You search the Scriptures because you think they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to me!" Who inspired the Bible? Who's Word is written? God's. Don't just "follow all the rules" because the Bible is not a rule book. I like to refer to the BIBLE as: Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth. The first command is love the Lord with all your heart. The second is to love your neighbour as yourself. You want to be with Jesus; God set eternity in your heart. But He also set eternity in the hearts of others. So spread the Word - it's for everyone!
You can achieve only through the Father

What Jesus really did for You

Isaiah 53 really puts into perspective the suffering Jesus took upon Himself to save each and every one of us, purely because His love is so amazing. Here is Isaiah 53 in my own words.
Who believes? Who has encountered God?
Jesus came as a humble servant and grew up as a human, a breath of fresh air to the people. He was not made to look beautiful or important in any way, and he was not particularly eye-catching.
He became hated, rejected, made to feel sad and upset and alone, beyond belief or imagination.
We ignored Him and turned away from Him, everyone hated Him but we didn't even care one bit.
Even so, He carried our weaknesses, He look all our sadness upon Himself too. But we still were blind and thought God must have been punishing Him for His own sin. Yet He never once did anything wrong. He was innocent.
He was cut, whipped, beaten, pierced - all for our sins. He was totally crushed. He was beaten so we could be made perfect in God's eyes, His very own Father's beautiful eyes. He was whipped so we could receive healing in His holy name. For He bore all our wounds and sickness.
Each and every one of us have walked away and rejected Him, like sheep. We took the road we wanted, the dark road, instead of the lit path, full of Jesus' dynamite power and God's brilliant light. But even though we knowingly took chose the wrong path, the Lord laid on His only (precious) Son every single sin of every one of us.
He was treated unfairly, oppressed, abused - but He never once complained or resisted. He did not utter or whisper. He was led willingly to His death, and once again His mouth stayed shut.
Unfairly put to death, He was stolen by those whose sins He was taking upon Himself. Nobody even cared - that He would have no children, that He was to die young. But He was killed on a cross because we closed our eyes and chose not to hear the truth.
He had done nothing at all wrong and had never even had a bad thought about anyone. He was full of love, compassion and mercy towards the very people that put Him to death. He was buried like a criminal, and in a rich man's grave He was laid.
But it was His Father's plan to cause Jesus this torture and destruction. When Jesus took our place and died with our sin upon Himself as the ultimate sacrifice, He will have many descendants. And enjoy long life, and the Lord's plan will not go to waste.
When Jesus sees that His suffering and shame was instead of ours, He will be contented. Because of His terrible experience, His righteousness makes way for salvation of all us people who choose Him - He took all our sins away, brought them upon Himself.
God will place Jesus on high and be thankful to Him (as shall we) because He died for us, each and every one of us. He was looked on as a sinner, a rebel, but instead He took our sin, cleansed us and made us pure, clean, whole. He saved even the worst sinner from destruction by sacrificing His life, being hated yet never stopping loving us with a deep, never-ending, never failnig, agape love.
That love is still available to us today. Just allow Jesus into your heart and you will be made whole again.
